Trip to Grahan
Grahan is a beautiful village nestled in Parvati Valley accessible by foot via Kasol Market. It's situated at a height of 2300 Meters (7500 Feet) above sea level and serves a gateway to Sar Pass Trek and as the base camp below Min Thach. Grahan trek starts from Kasol and is a 4-6 hours climb which gets steeper as it's progresses. Most of the trek accompanies a small river and amazingly spectacular vistas.. The entire trek is a scenic marvel and is is loaded with natural beauty as it progresses alongside river and through dense forest. It's only the last 2 hours of climb that we bid our farewell to the beautiful river and start our climb over rocks as the climb becomes steeper. The journey is little difficult but we see beautiful vistas and snow clad mountains once we reach at the top. Once you reach Grahan Village you will come across many small guest houses and traditional village homes with hundreds of years old architecture and wood work. There is a samy's cafe and some shops serving supplies. With the advent of tourism many new guest houses are mushrooming up in the village as Grahan is developing. There is no network beside some faint signal of vodafone and alcohol is strictly prohibited as tourists are fined heavily in case they are found bringing or consuming alcohol around the village based on the locals belief that there village deity strictly forbid it.
Grahan presents a wide view of snow mountains and has become a popular destination for tourists looking for solitude and cheap accommodation among natural vistas looking for much needed solitude and perspective. It also serves as a first night stay for tourists coming from kasol for sar pass
