Indrahara Pass - Minkiani Pass- Kareri Lake
This is a beautiful trek however, not many people attempt it, the trek takes you through the beautiful Indrahara Pass (4350 meters) down towards Brehi (1200 meters) and then again ascend towards top of Minkiani Pass (4300 meters) with ascent of 2350 meters in a single day along with magnificient views of Dhauladhars, lots of adventorous hikes above deep gorges and traverses and mixed forests over thin trails with beautiful views of the Second Largest Lake of Himachal, Lam Dal and the beautiful Kareri Lake and back towards Mcleodgang, Overall the trail is fun, full of adventure and quite an extensive cross over Dhauladhar Ranges. The trek will take you through green pastures, dense Deodar and Rhododendron forests. You will get spectacular views of sacred peak of Mani Mahesh Kailash and the snow-covered Pir Panjal Range While Minkiani Pass offers an opportunity to gain views towards the north, where peaks like Sickle Moon (6574 mts) and Brammah (6515m) falling in Kishtwar region of Kashmir are most prominent. Trekking on this route will offer an ultimate adventurous experience as this trek comprises of continuous climbing often over boulders. You will experience walking through rich wildlife areas and may witness wild goats, leopard and Monal bird. The best season to visit this trek is between mid May to June and September to mid October.
Trek Itinerary
Day 01: Mcleodganj
Arrive Dharamsala/Mcleodganj
Explore this little Tibet of India and Dalai Lama’s abode. Mcleodganj offers great environment to connect with nature and a chance to imbibe the Tibetan culture. After lunch go for a city tour visit Dalai Lama Temple, and Norbulingka (a Tibetan centre for learning and preserving traditional art and craft). Overnight stay at guest house.
Day 02: Triund Hill
Trek from Dharamkot to Triund Hill (9 Kms, 4Hrs)
Have your breakfast and we will start walking towards the well laid trekking trail towards Triund. Triund trekking trail is steep ascent and takes around 4-5 hours of trekking through dense forest of oak, pine, rhododendron and deodar trees. Arrive at Triund hill and check into forest lodge or set up our camp. You can see beautiful views of Dhauladhar range, and Mun Peak.
Day 03: Laka Got (Laka Glacier)
Trek from Triund hill to Laka Got (6 Kms, 4 Hrs)
Laka Got is situated at the snout of a small glacier which remains full of snow till June. Setup the camp and enjoy the beautiful vistas with hot tea and bonfire. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 04: Indrahar Pass
Trek from Laka Got to Chatta Parao via Indrahar Pass (10 Kms, 7Hrs)
After an early breakfast we start the If we start early then we get enough time to enjoy the stunning views from the Indrahar Pass. From the Indrahar Pass you can have the amazing views of majestic peaks of Pir Panjal range of central Himalayas. If you want to enjoy snow trekking then till June you will be trekking through snow glaciers. After crossing the Indrahar Pass the trekking trail is a steep descent till Chatta Paroa where we will camp today.
Day 05: Kuwarsi Village
Trek from Chatta Paroa to Kuwarsi Village (14 Kms, 7Hrs)
After few kilometers of gentle trek through the alpine meadows of Chatta Parao and then descend to Chotta Nallah to cross over to other side with a uphill trek to the meadows of Mandara. Keep trekking uphill and downhill to reach the beautiful village of Kuwarsi.

The trail winds out of the level valley of the Kuarsi village and enters a thick forest through which it continues for about an hour. Soon enough though, the path narrows and becomes extremely precipitous as it skirts beside a steep ravine falling a straight 900 ft into the raging Kuarsi Nala below. In about an hour, the trail crosses the village of Hilling and it widens out to a metalled road. Walk on the road on to Lamu on the Ravi river which is the roadhead. Buses ply fairly regularly, and from here it takes about an hour and a half to reach Donali, After about 3 km we reach the village of Brehi for night halt. There are meadows and orchards where we will set up our camp.

Day 7- Brehi t0 Minkiani Base Camp
The trail passes through beautiful apple orchards and oak trees, past little cattle enclosures to a suspension bridge.You pass by quite a few temporary Gaddi shelters, farms as well as small villages on the way to Drakund. The final hour’s walk to the camping spot is a weary slog over boulders, We camp here tonight.
Day 8- Minkiani Camp-Lam Dal-Minkiani Pass-Kareri Lake
We start early to avoid the thunder showers that often hit the range late in the afternoon. Midway we get to see the beautiful Lam Dal along the trail, we can't spend much time here as we have to cross the pass and reach Kareri Lake, Once we have crossed the heap of big boulders a small well laid trail will lead us to top of Minkiani Pass, After a long descent we reach Kareri Lake and set up camp there.
Day 9 -Kareri Lake-Kareri Village
After a few hours descent we reach the beautiful Kareri Village and camp on the green meadows or stay at the forest guest house.
Day 10-Kareri Village -Mcledogang
There’s a nice trail that leads across the Bhated Khad from Kareri to Naddi and onward to McLeodganj, however in rainy season due to leech infestation we will proceed down towards Ghera village and reach Dharamshala via Jeep from there.
End of Trek
The trail passes through beautiful apple orchards and oak trees, past little cattle enclosures to a suspension bridge.You pass by quite a few temporary Gaddi shelters, farms as well as small villages on the way to Drakund. There’s a nice trail that leads across the Bhated Khad from Kareri to Naddi and onward to McLeodganj, however in rainy season due to leech infestation we will proceed down towards Ghera village and reach Dharamshala via Jeep from there.
