Triund and Mcleodganj
Triund is beautifully nestled in the laps of Dhauladhar mountain ranges and has the perfect view to offer of the majestic mountains. The other side are the breath-taking views of the Kangra Valley and Mcleodgang. The trek starts from Gallu Devi Temple, where people going for the trek are first asked to register their names and pay a small fee. The trek to Triund from Gallu usually takes around 3-4 hours. There are several shops enroute which sell refreshments like water, cold drinks, tea, coffee and maggie. Triund is named after the three majestic mountains one can see from the top. Prominent one being the Moon Peak in the centre. The stars present a magnificent view at night. There is no electricity and toilets and mobile signals are hard to find from the top. Torches will come handy after it gets dark. Many people trek up to Triund on daily basis and the area remains flooded with visitors throughout the season. One can embark for multiple treks from here like Indrahar Pass, Minkiani Pass, Kareri Lake, Nag Dal and even Kuarsi Pass and Manimahesh. It's a large land of green pastures and a base camp and acclimatization point for trekkers headed for Indrahara Pass.
Trek Itineary
Day 1- Trek de Triund
The Triund trek will take at best four hours to complete and though quite a few manage to do it within two hours. The trail itself isn't too grueling, even for the unseasoned trekker. We will start from Gallu Devi Temple, the starting point of the trek, instead of beginning at Mcleodganj. You'll also find a few stalls selling refreshments on the way, so you can even break the trek into parts and rest a while on the way.
Triund trek can be described as a tranquil trek which can be easily accomplished by almost all age groups . Triund has an unambiguous byway which goes through a beautiful mixed forest of oak, deodar and rhododendron . Trek is fairly easy for the first five kilometers but the last one kilometer may require a bit of toil , the last one kilometer is popularly know as the “22 curves” as it has 22 tiring curves before you finally reach Triund. Along the way there are many small chai shops where one can refresh during the hike. The traipse is worth it as the panorama when you reach triund is awe-inspiring and exhilarating . Triund is come-at-able for most part of the year except for when the byway to triund is cut off by heavy snowfall in the months of January and February . Enjoy camping and sight seeing at Triund, with bonfire, music, food and conversations.
Trek to Triund is something you will never forget.
Day 2- Back to Civilization (Dharamkot and Mcleodganj)
Next day we will tread back to Gallu Temple, where our cabs will drive you to Dharamkot, which is a relief from the maddening crowd of Mcledogang and Dharamshala, as it's beautifully nestled in the hills and provide magnificent views of the shivalik hills. Dharamkot is a backpacker hub for foreigners, visiting here for meditation, trekking and some peace. There are beautiful cafes, food joints serving Italian and Israeli Food and several bakeries making it a quite, yet popular tourist destination. After spending some time in Dharamkot and enjoying delicious lunch, we will head back to Mcleodgang, where our buses will be waiting to transport us back to life back in Delhi.
